Argentine Tango has so many benefits to those who study the dance even improving your health. In fact, research confirms that taking Argentine Tango classes has helped people overcome depression and heal neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease.  Argentine Tango also improves memory, multi-tasking skills, self-esteem, balance and motor coordination. As we all know, dancing is a form of exercise. Therefore, in addition to all these other benefits Argentine Tango classes provide, you are also getting a good workout.

Classes / Lessons Improve Your Mood
Argentine Tango helps people battle depression, anxiety and stress. Researchers at the University of New England in South Wales and Australian National University in Canberra have found that just two weeks of lessons resulted in significant improvements in mood. Dancers also experienced less insomnia. Argentine Tango dancers are so focused on the complex steps that they forget about their negative thoughts. The strong connection dancers need with their partners when doing Argentine Tango also helps dancers focus on the present moment, which allows them to mentally switch off their feelings of stress.

Classes Help Parkinson’s Patients
Argentine Tango also slows down the progression of Parkinson’s disease in some patients. Patients are made to take long steps and move backwards when dancing the Argentine Tango. The female is usually the one to move backwards when dancing the Argentine Tango. However, in order for patients to experience the full benefits of the dance, men and women dance both male and female roles. Parkinson’s patients also experience less slowing or freezing of movement, which are symptoms of the disease, because Argentine Tango requires them to turn in different directions. Improvement in balance and quality of life is also experienced by Parkinson patients.

Dancing the Argentine Tango is a great form of exercise, and exercise is also great for your health.
